nutrition tips Oct 18, 2023

At Body by Jojo we encourage a balanced lifestyle through nutritious foods, exercises, daily movement and the 80/20 rule. A balanced diet is one of the most important aspects of a healthy lifestyle. Eating various nutrient-rich foods gives our body the necessary vitamins and minerals to function correctly. This blog post will discuss six foods everyone should include in their eating habits.

Leafy Greens

Leafy greens like spinach, kale, and collard greens are packed with essential nutrients like vitamins A, C, and K and folate. Plus, they're rich in antioxidants and fibre, which help to reduce the risk of chronic diseases like heart disease and cancer.

Berries

Strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries are tasty and incredibly nutritious. They are loaded with antioxidants, vitamins, and fibre, which help boost our immune system and protect against cellular damage.

Whole Grains

Carbs are not bad. Say that again with me! Whole grains like brown rice, quinoa, and whole-wheat bread are also fantastic for our health. They're excellent sources of fibre and other essential nutrients like magnesium, selenium, and iron. These grains help to regulate our blood sugar levels and reduce the risk of heart disease.

Nuts and Seeds

Nuts and seeds are great snacks that are also super healthy. They're a fantastic source of healthy fats, fibre, and protein, which help to reduce inflammation and improve our heart health. Nuts and seeds include almonds, walnuts, pumpkin, and chia seeds.

Greek Yogurt

Another great food is yogurt. It's an excellent source of calcium, protein, and probiotics. Probiotics are beneficial bacteria that help to improve our gut health and boost our immune system. Remember to choose Greek plain yogurt without added sugars for the most health benefits.

Fish

Salmon is a fatty fish loaded with omega-3 fatty acids. These acids help to reduce inflammation and improve our heart health. It's also an excellent source of protein and other essential nutrients like vitamin D and selenium.

Incorporating these six foods into your diet can help to improve your overall health and reduce the risk of chronic diseases. So why not add some of these delicious foods to your meals? And remember, always choose whole, nutrient-dense foods and avoid processed foods and added sugars.
